  • The Official 1973 Presidential Inaugural Medal included a short pamphlet titled “The Official Inaugural Medals: An American Medallic Heritage” by Richard B. Dusterberg.
  • Gilroy Roberts also designed the obverse of the John F. Kennedy half-dollar.  Accordingly, the 1973 Nixon medal was the first to feature artwork designed by an artist whose portraiture was also featured on American currency.
  • The 1973 Nixon Medal was the first offered to the public in both traditional and proof finishes.
  • Naturally, the 1973 Nixon Medal is the only Inaugural Medal to feature a President and Vice President who both resigned their respective offices during their term.
